MEET OUR PROVIDERS

Claudia Flores, PA-C was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Houston. She attended The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, where she completed her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies. She received training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Weill Cornell Medical College at Houston Methodist. Following graduation, she practiced gastroenterology in Pasadena, Texas for three years before moving to The Woodlands.

Claudia is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). She is a member of numerous professional societies including the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants and American Academy of Physician Assistants. She also maintains a membership with American Gastroenterology Association as well as Texas Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy. She is fluent in English and Spanish.

Carrie Sprayberry, MSN, APRN, FNP-C was born in Seattle, Washington and raised in Houston, Texas. She attended St. Pius the X High School in Houston, and later moved to Nacogdoches, TX where she attended Stephen F. Austin State University and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She moved back to Houston and worked as a Registered Nurse for four years at Houston Northwest Medical Center as a Telemetry/Medical-Surgical nurse.

She was later offered a position at St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital where she spent her next five years working in many different arenas of medicine/nursing including endoscopy where she worked alongside Dr. Awasum.

While working at St. Luke’s Hospital, she decided to return to school and obtain a Masters Degree in Nursing, as a Family Nurse Practitioner from The University of Texas, Arlington. During her last semester, her training included gastroenterology and hepatology which focused on diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver.

Her extensive experience working in the Endoscopy lab and clinical rotations helped her discover her passion for gastrointestinal diseases and decided she would pursue her passion and work in a gastroenterology clinic, preferably, once again, with Dr. Awasum. The opportunity presented itself and she joined Dr. Awasum and his staff at Greater Houston Digestive Disease Consultants. She is also currently a member of the North Harris Montgomery County Nurse Practitioner Society, Texas Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy, and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. When Carrie is not in clinic caring for her patient’s, she enjoys being outdoors, playing tennis, and being with her dog, Bear.
